The House of Stuart Monarch was ANNE, a four-letter word. ANNE was the Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland from 1702 to 1714. She was the second daughter of James VII and II and the last monarch of the House of Stuart. She succeeded her brother-in-law, William III, and her sister, Mary II, as monarch. During her reign, she oversaw the union of England and Scotland in 1707, which created the Kingdom of Great Britain. She also supported the arts and sciences, and was a patron of the Royal Society.
