Hockey ploy is a term used to describe the various strategies and tactics employed by hockey players in order to gain an advantage over their opponents. The most common hockey ploys are DEKE, icing, and slapshot. DEKE is a maneuver in which a player moves the puck in one direction and then quickly changes direction, often resulting in a goal. Icing is when a player shoots the puck from his own side of the ice to the other side, past the opposing team's goal line.
