Shere Hite is an American-born German author, educator, and feminist. She is best known for her groundbreaking 1976 book, The Hite Report: A Nationwide Study of Female Sexuality, which was based on a survey of over 3, 000 women. She has written several other books on gender and sexuality, including The Hite Report on Male Sexuality (1981) and Women and Love: A Cultural Revolution in Progress (1987). She has also lectured extensively on gender and sexuality issues around the world.
