The Hindu social division is composed of two parts: CASTE and varna. CASTE is a hereditary social group that is endogamous, meaning that members of the same CASTE only marry within the same CASTE. Varna is a system of four social classes that are based on occupation and are hierarchical in nature. The four classes are Brahmin (priests and scholars), Kshatriya (warriors and rulers), Vaishya (merchants and traders), and Shudra (laborers and servants).
