The Hindu musical instrument SITAR is a stringed instrument with a long neck and a gourd-shaped body. It has seven strings, of which six are used to play the melody and one is used as a drone. The SITAR is believed to have originated in the Middle East and was brought to India by the Mughal invaders in the 16th century.
