Having a permanent post, or tenured, is a job position in which an employee has a long-term contract with an employer. This type of job is usually found in academic institutions, such as universities, where the employee is given a certain amount of job security and is not subject to the same level of scrutiny as other employees. Tenure is typically granted after a period of successful performance and is often accompanied by additional benefits, such as higher pay and increased job stability.
