Harbor protection is a form of coastal defense that involves the construction of structures such as jetties and seawalls to protect harbors from the damaging effects of waves, currents, and storms. Jetties are structures built out into the water from the shoreline to protect a harbor from strong currents and waves. Seawalls are walls built along the shoreline to protect against erosion and flooding. Both jetties and seawalls are important components of harbor protection.
