Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente was a professional baseball player who played 18 seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was a 15-time All-Star and won two World Series championships with the Pirates. Clemente was known for his strong throwing arm and defensive skills, as well as his humanitarian work. He died in a plane crash while en route to deliver aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua. Clemente was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1973, becoming the first Latin American and Caribbean player to be enshrined.
