Nirvana was a grunge group from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1987 by singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic. The band's breakthrough album, Nevermind, released in 1991, brought them international fame and established them as one of the most successful and influential bands of the 1990s. NIRVANA's music combined elements of punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock, and their lyrics often dealt with themes of alienation, despair, and rebellion. The band disbanded in 1994 following Cobain's death.
