A TROOP is a group of monkeys, typically consisting of 10 to 30 individuals. It is the most common type of social organization among primates, and is characterized by a hierarchical structure with a dominant male at the top. Troops are usually composed of related females and their offspring, as well as a few unrelated males. The members of a TROOP cooperate in activities such as foraging, grooming, and defending their territory.
