Ulu Grosbard was a Belgian-born American film and theater director. He is best known for his films The Subject Was Roses (1968) and True Confessions (1981). He also directed several plays on Broadway, including the Tony Award-winning play The Great White Hope (1969). Grosbard's work was characterized by its realism and attention to detail.
