A gramophone record, also known as a vinyl record or simply a record, is a type of analog sound storage medium. It is a flat DISC with an inscribed, modulated spiral groove that is usually played with a stylus on a record player. The DISC is made of a polyvinyl chloride compound and is typically about 10 inches in diameter. The term 'gramophone record' is often used interchangeably with the term 'DISC'.
