The Golden Horde was a Mongol and Turkic-speaking state that existed from the 13th to 15th centuries. It was founded by Genghis Khan's grandson Batu Khan and was based in the Eurasian Steppe. Members of the Golden Horde included the Tartars and Tatars, both of which were Turkic-speaking peoples. The Tartars were a nomadic people who lived in the steppes of Central Asia and Eastern Europe, while the Tatars were a group of Turkic-speaking peoples who inhabited the Volga region.
