The Golden Horde was a Mongolian and Turkic state that was founded in the 13th century by Genghis Khan's grandson, Batu Khan. It was made up of Tatars, which is a term used to describe various Turkic-speaking peoples living in the Volga-Ural region. The Golden Horde was one of the largest empires in history, stretching from the Black Sea to the Baltic Sea. It was eventually dissolved in 1502.
