The term 'Golden Boy' is a reference to two different people. The first is OSCAR, a five-letter word, which is the nickname of the Mexican professional boxer, OSCAR De La Hoya. He was a six-time world champion in six different weight classes and is widely considered one of the greatest boxers of all time. The second is Odets, also a five-letter word, which is the surname of Clifford Odets, an American playwright and screenwriter. He was a major figure in the American left-wing theatre movement of the 1930s and 1940s and is best known for his plays Waiting for Lefty and Awake and Sing.
