The Daric was a gold coin of ancient Persia, first minted around 515 BCE. It was the primary currency of the Achaemenid Empire and was widely used throughout the Middle East. The Daric was a large coin, weighing 8.4 grams and measuring approximately 20 millimeters in diameter. It featured an image of the Persian king on one side and an archer on the other. The Daric was an important part of the economy of the Achaemenid Empire and remained in use until the fall of the empire in 330 BCE.
