Gliding ballet movement is a type of dance step known as a CHASSE (pronounced shah-say). It is a traveling step in which the dancer moves sideways or diagonally, with one foot sliding or gliding along the floor. The other foot is then brought up to meet the first foot, and the dancer continues to move in the same direction. This type of movement is often used in ballet to create a graceful, flowing effect.
