Okapis are a species of giraffelike animals that are native to the tropical rainforests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Central Africa. They have a striking reddish-brown coat with white stripes and spots, long necks, and large ears. They are the only living members of the family Giraffidae that are not true giraffes. Okapis are herbivores and feed on leaves, buds, fruits, and grasses. They are also known to be very shy and elusive animals, making them difficult to observe in the wild.
