Edna Ferber was a giant writer of the early 20th century. She wrote novels, short stories, plays, and even a memoir. Her works often focused on the struggles of women in society and the changing roles of women in the early 1900s. She won the Pulitzer Prize for her novel So Big in 1924. Ferber was also a successful playwright, with her plays Show Boat and Cimarron being adapted into films. She was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame in 1981.
