The first Prime Minister of Ghana was Kwame Nkrumah, who served from 1957 to 1966. He was a major proponent of Pan-Africanism and was the leader of the country during its transition from British colonial rule to independence. Nkrumah was an influential figure in African politics and was seen as a symbol of African liberation. He was also a key figure in the formation of the Organization of African Unity.
