Geum is a genus of perennial flowering plants in the rose family, Rosaceae. It includes about 50 species native to Europe, Asia, North and South America, and Africa. Commonly known as avens, they are herbaceous plants with basal leaves and small flowers in clusters. The flowers have five petals and are usually yellow, orange, or red. Geum species are used as ornamental plants in gardens and parks.
