Otto Klemperer was a German conductor who was active in the early 20th century. He was born in Breslau, Germany in 1885 and studied music in Berlin and Frankfurt. He conducted orchestras in Cologne, Strasbourg, and Hamburg before becoming the chief conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra in 1927. He was known for his interpretations of Beethoven, Brahms, and Wagner. He died in Los Angeles in 1973.
