Georges Enescu was a Romanian composer, violinist, pianist, conductor, and teacher. He is regarded as Romania's most important musician and one of the greatest composers of the 20th century. He was born in 1881 and died in 1955. He wrote several symphonies, chamber music, and operas, as well as works for the piano and violin. He was also a renowned teacher, having taught at the Paris Conservatory and the Bucharest Conservatory. He was awarded the French Legion of Honor in 1946.
