Sigmund Freud was a pioneering psychoanalyst who developed the theories of the unconscious mind and the Oedipus complex. His contemporary, Alfred ADLER, was an Austrian psychiatrist who founded the school of individual psychology. Carl Jung was another contemporary of Freud's who was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist who founded analytical psychology. All three of these men were influential in the development of modern psychology.
