The French Plateau, also known as the Massif Central, is a large area of elevated land in the south-central part of France. It covers approximately one-sixth of the country and is composed of mountains, plateaus, and valleys. The Massif Central is home to some of the highest peaks in France, including the Puy de Sancy, which is the highest point in the country. The region is known for its volcanic activity, with numerous extinct volcanoes dotting the landscape. The Massif Central is also an important agricultural region, producing a variety of crops, including wheat, barley, and potatoes.
