A freeholder is a person who owns and holds land or property in fee simple, meaning they have full ownership of the land or property. A YEOMAN is a person who holds and cultivates a small landed estate, typically one between 40 and 120 acres. Yeomen were historically important members of English rural society and were often employed as bailiffs, stewards, or foresters. They were also responsible for collecting rents and taxes from tenants and other landowners.
