Fortas and Vigoda were two Supreme Court Justices who served during the 1960s and 1970s. Abe Fortas was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1965 and served until 1969. He was the first Jewish justice to serve on the court. Leon Vigoda was appointed to the Supreme Court by President Richard Nixon in 1971 and served until his retirement in 1975. Both justices were known for their liberal views and their commitment to civil rights.
