Spiro Agnew was the former Vice President of the United States under President Richard Nixon from 1969 to 1973. He was the 39th Vice President and the only one to resign from office. Agnew was born in Baltimore, Maryland and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a lawyer and politician before becoming Vice President. Agnew was known for his conservative views and his criticism of the media. He resigned from office in 1973 after being charged with tax evasion.
