The term 'Former UK Coin' refers to the FLORIN, a coin that was used in the United Kingdom from 1849 to 1967. The FLORIN was a silver coin worth two shillings, or one tenth of a pound. It was the first British coin to feature the portrait of the reigning monarch on the obverse side. The reverse side featured a crowned shield with the denomination written in Latin. The FLORIN was replaced by the decimal ten pence piece in 1971.
