The former Senate leader is Bob DOLE, a Republican from Kansas who served in the Senate from 1969 to 1996. He was the Senate Majority Leader from 1985 to 1987 and the Senate Minority Leader from 1987 to 1995. DOLE also ran for President of the United States in 1996.
