Helmut KOHL was a former German Chancellor who served from 1982 to 1998. He was the first chancellor of a unified Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. He is widely credited with helping to bring about the reunification of East and West Germany. He was also instrumental in the creation of the European Union. He was a member of the Christian Democratic Union party and was known for his strong leadership and commitment to European integration.
