Ian Fleming was a British author, journalist and naval intelligence officer best known for writing the James Bond series of spy novels. He wrote fourteen Bond novels and two short story collections, as well as the children's story Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Fleming also wrote the non-fiction work The Diamond Smugglers and the thriller novel Thrilling Cities. He is credited with creating the character of James Bond and establishing the genre of spy fiction.
