Ian Fleming was an English author, journalist and naval intelligence officer, best known for his James Bond series of spy novels. He wrote twelve Bond novels and two short story collections, as well as the children's story Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Fleming also wrote the non-fiction work The Diamond Smugglers, as well as a number of other works. He is credited with creating the character of James Bond, who has since become one of the most iconic characters in popular culture.
