Fish nets are a type of fishing gear used to catch fish in the water. A TRAWL is a large, cone-shaped net that is towed behind a boat and used to capture fish near the surface or on the bottom of the ocean. A SEINE is a large fishing net that hangs vertically in the water with floats and weights along the top and bottom edges. It is usually operated by two boats that drag it through the water. A fyke is a conical shaped net with a funnel-like entrance that is set in a stationary position in shallow water. All three of these types of nets are commonly referred to as fish nets.
