Cecil B. DeMille was an American filmmaker who is best known for his epic films such as The Ten Commandments and The Greatest Show on Earth. He was one of the most successful filmmakers of the early 20th century, and his career spanned over 50 years. He was also a pioneer in the use of color film and sound technology. DeMille was nominated for three Academy Awards and won an honorary Oscar in 1949.
