Miloš Forman was a Czech-American film director, best known for his films One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and Amadeus (1984). He was nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning two. Forman was born in 1932 in Čáslav, Czechoslovakia, and studied at the Prague Film Academy. He began his career in the 1960s, directing several Czech films before immigrating to the United States in 1968. In the US, he directed several successful films, including Taking Off (1971), Hair (1979), and The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996). Forman passed away in 2018 at the age of 86.
