The figure skating manoeuver known as the Lutz is a jump that requires the skater to take off from the back outside edge of one foot and land on the back outside edge of the other foot. It was named after Alois Lutz, an Austrian figure skater who first performed the jump in 1913. The Lutz is considered one of the most difficult jumps in figure skating and is often used in combination with other jumps.
