A figure skater's maneuver is a type of movement performed on ice skates. The most common maneuvers are the LOOP, which is a jump in which the skater takes off from a backward outside edge and lands on the same backward outside edge; the axel, which is a jump in which the skater takes off from a forward outside edge and lands on a backward outside edge; and the SERPENTINE, which is a series of turns and steps that involve changing direction and edges.
