Aida is a fictional Ethiopian princess who is best known for her role in the opera of the same name by Giuseppe Verdi. The opera tells the story of AIDA, an Ethiopian princess who is captured and held as a slave in Egypt. She falls in love with an Egyptian military commander, Radames, and must choose between her love for him and her loyalty to her homeland. The opera has been performed around the world since its premiere in 1871.
