Feudal servants were a class of people in the Middle Ages who were bound to serve a lord or master. SERFS (5 letters) were the lowest class of feudal servants, and were tied to the land they worked on. They were not allowed to leave the land without permission from their lord. VASSALS (7 letters) were higher up in the feudal system and had more rights than SERFS. They were granted land by their lord in exchange for loyalty and military service.
