A fearmonger is someone who spreads fear and alarm in order to manipulate or control a situation. An ALARMIST is a type of fearmonger who deliberately exaggerates the danger of a situation in order to create fear and panic. Alarmists often use false information or misleading statements to create an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. They may also use scare tactics to influence public opinion or to gain political or economic advantage.
