The FEDERAL Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is a FEDERAL law enforcement agency in the United States. It is responsible for investigating violations of FEDERAL laws, protecting the United States from foreign intelligence and terrorist activities, and providing leadership and criminal justice services to FEDERAL, state, local, and international agencies and partners. The FBI also works to protect civil rights, combat public corruption, and reduce violent crime.
