Fastened shut is a term used to describe something that has been securely closed. It can be achieved by sealing or nailing the object shut. Sealing is the process of making something airtight, watertight, or otherwise secure by using an adhesive or other material. Nailing is the process of securing two objects together by driving nails into them. Both processes are effective ways of fastening shut an object.
