Famous pilot Chuck Yeager was a United States Air Force officer and the first person to break the sound barrier in 1947. He was a highly decorated combat veteran of World War II and the Korean War, and was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his service. Yeager was also an accomplished test pilot and flew over 100 different types of aircraft. He was inducted into the National Aviation Hall of Fame in 1973.
