Famed Fireman Red Adair was a legendary oil well firefighter who gained international fame for his daring and successful efforts to extinguish some of the largest and most dangerous fires in the history of the petroleum industry. He was born in Houston, Texas in 1915 and worked in the oil fields of Texas and Louisiana before joining the U.S. Navy during World War II. After the war, he returned to the oil fields and established his own company, Red Adair Company, Inc., which specialized in fighting oil well fires. He was renowned for his bravery and skill in controlling and extinguishing fires, and his work took him around the world. He was awarded numerous honors and awards for his service, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1991.
