Famed Firefighter Red Adair was a legendary oil well firefighter who gained international fame for his daring and successful efforts to extinguish some of the world's most difficult and dangerous fires. He was born in Houston, Texas in 1915 and worked in the oil industry for over 50 years. He was known for his bravery and skill in controlling and extinguishing oil well fires, and was often called upon by governments and oil companies to tackle the most challenging fires. He was awarded numerous honors and awards for his work, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1991.
