Explorer Sebastian Cabot was an Italian navigator and explorer who lived in the 15th century. He was the son of John Cabot, an Italian explorer who had explored the Atlantic coast of North America. Cabot was commissioned by King Henry VII of England to explore the New World and he sailed to Newfoundland and Labrador in 1497. He also explored the coasts of South America and the Caribbean. He is remembered for his exploration of the New World and his contributions to the Age of Discovery.
