Explorer John Cabot was an Italian navigator and explorer who, in 1497, set sail from Bristol, England on a voyage of exploration to North America. He is credited with being the first European to explore the east coast of Canada. Sebastian Cabot was an explorer and navigator who explored the coasts of South America and the Caribbean in the early 1500s. He was also the first European to explore the Rio de la Plata in South America.
