Leif Ericsson was a Norse explorer who is credited with being the first European to reach North America. He is often referred to as 'Leif the Lucky' due to his successful voyages. He was the son of Erik the Red, who had founded the first Norse settlement in Greenland. Leif Ericsson's explorations were instrumental in the establishment of a short-lived Norse settlement in Newfoundland, Canada.
