The European Crow, also known as the Common Raven, is a large passerine bird found throughout much of Europe. It is the most widely distributed species of crow in the world. The scientific name for the European Crow is Corvus corax. The abbreviation DAW stands for 'Dusky-billed Avian Weasel' and JDAW stands for 'Jungle-dwelling Avian Weasel'. Both terms refer to the European Crow's ability to survive in a variety of habitats, from forests to open fields.
